Racial hate crime committed at WKU students’ apartment
January 18, 2018
Just days after Martin Luther King Day and an act of vandalism at UK’s Jewish Student Center, another hate crime incident occurred at Western Kentucky University.
Two black WKU students were greeted yesterday morning with feces smeared on their apartment door with an attached note that said “Make America Great Again” and a racial slur.
After seeing the vandalism, the residents reported the incident to the Bowling Green Police Department and the apartment’s maintenance staff cleaned the area immediately. The property did not sustain any further damage.
There are not yet any leads as to who is responsible, but the Bowling Green-Warren County chapter of the NAACP issued a statement denouncing the act.
