What to do today if you hate Halloween

With the phrase “Spooky SZN” (Spooky Season, meaning the scary things we interact with around this holiday) everywhere, those of us who don’t have the same affinity for this haunting holiday can get drowned in the celebrations.

If you’re like me and don’t quite have a taste for this ghoulish holiday, here’s some things to do today. They can help you start your own holiday traditions, have a unique experience or forget about the clowns and serial killer personas outside.

Have a Christmas movie marathon

Everyone knows that once November hits, it’s the Christmas season. So if you hate Halloween, why not start off early with a Christmas movie marathon on Oct. 31? It’s never too early for this, and with the hundreds of must-see Christmas movies, it helps to get an early start.

Study

While this isn’t the most fun thing on the list, it’s the most practical. Finals are basically a month away, so it’s good to get a head start on reviewing the material now. Also, ironically, this is a great way to get in on the scary atmosphere. Who doesn’t love digging into homework that makes no sense? Spooky!

Eat lots and lots of candy

Everyone else will be, too, so why should you miss out on all the fun just because you don’t like getting spooked? Buy yourself a bag and enjoy it while you’re on your movie marathon or doing homework. Candy is timeless. You just have to get past the orange-and-black wrappers.

Take a walk in the fall weather

Oh, the leaves, they are a-changing! While a lot of the leaves have already fallen, there is still amazing orange scenery around campus. Get outside now before it gets too cold. Today is perfect weather for a stroll, and if you get coffee, you can take the perfect selfie.

Go to bed early

This is music to a tired college student’s ear. Everyone deserves a good night’s sleep. While everyone else is going to be partying the night away, you’ll be tucked in bed early and ready to take on November tomorrow. Go you!

Just because you hate a holiday doesn’t mean you can’t find ways to enjoy it. Have fun today!
