UK Transportation announces second Light Up Night Ride
October 23, 2018
UK Transportation announced in a press release Tuesday that the second annual “Light up the Night Ride” will be held Friday, Nov. 2.
The five-mile bike ride around campus will begin around 5:30 p.m. at the Bowman Statue near the Gatton Student Center.
The ride will be a fun trek around campus with a competitive twist: The most brightly decorated bike will win a $20 UK Bookstore gift card. For students unable to procure lights for their bikes, UK Transportation will give away free front and rear lights to UK students and employees.
“We have a lot of fun with this event,” Sandra Broadus, manager of alternative transportation at UK Transportation Services, said in the release. “This is a light-hearted way to highlight the very real need to brighten up our bikes during the fall and winter seasons, especially since many people are caught unprepared when daylight savings ends and it’s suddenly dark so early.”
No registration is required for this event. For more information, contact UK Transportation’s communications officer Lisa Cleveland at (859) 257-3512 or by email at [email protected].
