You should start your new year’s resolutions now, not in January

Another year is coming to an end, and 2019 is just around the corner.

January is often filled with New Year’s resolutions and attempted goals. Many people quit on themselves and their goals before January is even over, but you are better than that. You can and should start working on your 2019 New Year’s resolutions now, and you will ensure that you have momentum going into the new year and that you will experience personal growth in 2019.

Something that helps me to stay motivated this time of year is Rachel Hollis’s “Last 90 Days” program. Rachel Hollis is an author and speaker who is passionate about helping others reach their potential and goals.

“Last 90 Days” is a free online resource that helps people to stay focused on their goals and to finish the year strong. It includes motivational emails and videos and is highly effective. Although it technically started in October, because it goes through the last three months of the year, it is not too late to sign up. It is better late than never. This program can be a great aid in starting your New Year’s resolutions now and increasing your chances of becoming your best self in 2019.

One thing that can be a major help in goal setting, and in New Year’s Resolutions specifically, is making sure your goals are focused and specific.

It is better to accomplish one task than to have two tasks half done. Make sure your goals are very specific and that your focus isn’t split too widely on many different things. Make sure that there is room in your calendar for you to work on your New Year’s resolutions now, too.

It has been said that “a goal without a plan is simply a wish.” Prioritize your personal goals now. There is no reason you have to wait for the calendar to say “2019” to focus on your goals. Do it now, when it’s hard to start and you don’t have the hype and sentiment of a new year pressuring you.

The new year will be here before we know it. If we do not approach it differently than previous years, our old habits will kick in and very little about us will change. You will not live your best life in 2019 if you do not prioritize, focus on your goals and stay motivated. Start now, and you will already be ahead of the game for 2019.
