UKPD quickly identify suspect after unsubstantiated bomb threat
April 15, 2019
A bomb threat has been posted in a group message, but a campus-wide UK message assures students and faculty that it is not a credible threat.
On Monday morning, a user named Jaye Brewster joined a class group message. The user posted the threat, and then immediately was removed from the group.
“Ill blow this school off the f*****g map tomorrow [sic],” the user said. “Mark my word.”
The message was then circulated among students via other campus group messages. It’s unclear if this is the exact threat that police were made aware of.
The UK police department received word of a threat early Monday morning. According to the email, the threat involved White Hall classroom building.
There are currently no students under the name of Jaye Brewster to be found in the UK Directory, and the campus-wide email stated they have located the suspect and they are not a UK student.
The email stated that since this is not a credible threat and the suspect has been determined, classes will proceed as usual Tuesday.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
