Kentucky baseball (29-24, 13-17 SEC) has punched its ticket to the 2025 NCAA Tournament to mark its third straight tournament appearance. The streak is now the longest in program history.
The Wildcats will enter the postseason on a four-game losing streak after being swept on the road against the now No. 1 overall national seed Vanderbilt Commadores before going one-and-done in the SEC Tournament against Oklahoma.
The skid created a tense feeling in Lexington as most projections had Kentucky right on the brink of making the tournament or not being in at all.
As conference tournament week went on, four bids were stolen, which made it even more of a question of whether or not the Wildcats season would be over.
Kentucky had a resume that included the ninth hardest schedule in the country, along with eight top 25 RPI wins. The series win over Tennessee on the road and sweep over Oklahoma helped bolster the resume in a big way.
However, when the committee’s decision was revealed on Monday afternoon, Kentucky was firmly in the field and not even amongst the last four in.
Kentucky will be in the Clemson Regional along with Clemson, West Virgina and USC Upstate.
Kentucky will be the No. 3 seed behind West Virgina and ahead of USC Upstate.
If the Wildcats were to win the Clemson Regional, they will face the winner of the Baton Rouge Regional that features LSU, Little Rock, Rhode Island and Dallas Baptist.
The Bat Cats road back to Omaha will begin on Friday, May 30, when they will take on West Virgina with first pitch set for noon.
