University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto sent out a campus community email on Friday, April 4 regarding visas and immigration status of certain international students.
The email said UK had learned the U.S. Department of Homeland Security revoked certain visas and status “for a small number of international graduate students at UK,” saying university officials should reach out to affected students to support them and provide information.
According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website, an F-1 visa allows international students to attend an accredited academic institution in the United States if they are seeking a degree and will be a full-time student.
Resources such as UK’s Center for Support and Intervention and International Student and Scholar Services were also provided in the email for international students with questions or for those looking for additional support.
“The university will always comply with the law,” the email said. “We also will make abundantly clear that our more than 1,300 international students and scholars are valued members of this special community.”

How many students? What is the reason their F-1 visas were revoked?
