The town of Hazard, Kentucky, was severely impacted by heavy flooding on Feb. 15 through the 16. With over 30.5 inches of rain this was the worst flood since 1984. The flooding caused extensive damage to homes and businesses. In response, the community has rallied to help with recovery efforts. A JCPenney store has been repurposed as a donation center with offering essential items like food, water and clothing. Local groups, including the Hazard High School football team, have been actively involved in the cleanup process with the team helping to clear homes and businesses. The recovery process is expected to take several years, but the people of Hazard remain resilient. Gov. Andy Beshear has set up a donation website to assist with rebuilding efforts.
