L8nite, a fast-food restaurant located on the University of Kentucky’s North Campus at The Cornerstone, has been closed permanently after 1 ½ years of service effective immediately.
According to UK music education senior and former L8nite manager Zach Wilson, L8nite was originally only set to close temporarily for the summer of 2025.
Wilson said L8nite owner Mohamed Weheba sent a message to the L8nite employee group chat announcing the restaurant’s closing on the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 18.
“He (Weheba) was like, ‘Hey we’re closing permanently, thank you guys for what you guys have done.’ It was very out of nowhere though, because he didn’t give a notice to anybody,” Wilson said. “He didn’t tell anybody about that (L8nite closing) until then, and a lot of people freaked out about it because no one knew.”
The L8nite website has stopped working, saying the site can’t be reached when users click on the website link. The Google search engine also confirmed L8nite was closed through the use of a banner titled “permanently closed.”
In September 2024, L8nite faced licensing issues with UK regarding a $15,000 sign bought by Weheba to advertise L8nite.The building housing L8nite, The Cornerstone, also faced safety issues in November 2024 when gunfire resulted in a shattered window on the first floor of The Cornerstone building.

Really nice business practice Mohamed Weheba. Closing your restaurant (which you probably knew you would have to beforehand!!) and giving your employees ZERO notice. You didn’t even have the guts or morality to tell them this face to face-You did it through a group text message. I hope someone does this to you someday and then you’ll know how it feels!! This place was horrible anyways. WAY too loud music blaring to the point you couldn’t even talk to the employees, mediocre food, and evidently horrible management. I’m glad you are GONE!!
