Kentucky women’s golf made a statement, finishing in third place behind Oklahoma and Oklahoma State and posting a two-day total of 852 (-12) in its spring debut at Osprey Point-Raven/Falcon Golf Course in Boca Raton, Florida.
The team’s 7-under on Tuesday recorded the lowest 18-hole team round of the day at the Paradise Invitational.
Kentucky was led by Cathryn Brown and Karlie Campbell, who both finished top five in the individual leaderboard. Brown had four birdies and a couple bogeys for a 2-under in the final round. Campbell recorded five birdies to also finish with a 2-under on Tuesday.
The performances by the two athletes highlighted the best finishes of their college careers.
On Monday, the Wildcats were in fourth place, turning in a team total of 5-under (571), just one stroke behind Mercer. Brown and Campbell turned in notable scorecards of 141 (-3) through 36 holes.
Brooke Oberparleiter played under the weather this week and had three birdies and two bogeys to score a 71 (-1) on Tuesday with a 215 (-1) finish for the event.
Marta López Echevarría turned in a 2-under-par 70 on Tuesday. Her scores improved as the rounds went on, recording a 75, 72 and 70 at the invitational.
The senior has been in the top 25 in all four of her appearances this season.
The Wildcats will return to Lexington to prepare for their next tournament in three weeks. Kentucky will compete in the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational at Palm Aire Country Club in Sarasota, Florida, on Feb. 18 and 19.
