Kentucky women’s soccer recently played Oklahoma in a difficult game that ended in a 2-2 draw.
In this debut encounter between the two teams, the Wildcats overcame a late deficit twice to earn a draw. Kentucky equalized with goals from Makala Woods and Mia Bookhard despite being outshot 10–4.
As of right now, the Wildcats are 8-1-3 overall and 0-1-3 when playing in the SEC. They have drawn twice in a row and three times overall in SEC play this season.
Though the squad has demonstrated grit and will, the issue of whether it can save the season and win these upcoming SEC games still must be answered.
The Wildcats will soon play Alabama, LSU and Vanderbilt, providing them with a great chance to establish themselves and move up the conference rankings.
Kentucky head coach Troy Fabiano will also be making necessary adjustments to prepare the team for the upcoming matches.
“We told them there’s going to be highs and lows,” Fabiano said. “Just don’t get too low. But we needed some points.”
The game versus Alabama is important. Alabama, which is renowned for its tough defensive tactics and swift counter-attacks, is going to be a tough opponent but, nonetheless, the Wildcats have been honing their offensive plays and strengthening their defense.
The Wildcats have to focus on preserving possession, producing scoring opportunities and reducing defensive mistakes if they are to defeat Alabama.
Fabiano will likely intend to use fast transitions to capitalize on counterattacks and high-press techniques to block Alabama’s offense.
The Wildcats have a demanding schedule ahead of them, so every game counts for their next SEC matchups.
The Wildcats will kick off against the Crimson Tide on Friday, Oct. 4, on the road in Tuscaloosa with first-touch time being scheduled for 8 p.m. ET and airing live on the SEC Network+.
