The University of Kentucky Residence Life is increasing its security presence in dorms by partnering with Allied Universal, according to the email from Residence Life.
On Sept. 12, an email was sent to those students living in campus housing to inform them of new plans being implemented for the school year.
“Campus Housing and the Office of Residence Life are always working alongside the UK Police Department to improve your residential experience, with safety and security as our top priorities. In line with this commitment, we’re excited to announce additional security staffing that will enhance safety measures already in place,” the email said.
Allied Universal is a professional campus security team that Residence Life plans on working with to increase security on campus.
“Security officers will conduct community rounds in residence halls and at the William T. Young Library on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings,” the email said.
The officers will be easy to identify, wearing high-visibility vests, black polo shirts or jackets and black tactical pants, according to the email.
UK Residence Life said they are confident that this additional layer of security will “further cultivate a safe, inclusive environment focused on your success and well-being.”
