Kentucky women’s soccer (4-0-0) dominated Jacksonville State (2-1-0) by a score of 4-1 on Sunday as it continued its undefeated start to the season.
The Cats’ offense started out strong with a goal in the 23rd minute by senior Makala Woods to give them a 1-0 lead.
Soon after, fifth-year senior Mia Bookhard would knock in the Cats’ second goal of the half in the 40th minute to give them a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
The Cats’ offense continued to dominate in the second half as Maddie Kemp knocked in a successful penalty kick in the 50th minute to extend Kentucky’s lead to three goals.
Jacksonville State gained some momentum later in the half with a goal by Allison Sibley to make the score 3-1, however, Kemp’s second goal of the day quickly put a stop to any hopes of a comeback for the Gamecocks.
The Cats’ offense shined in their 4-1 victory, outshooting Jacksonville State 22-6 over the course of the game.
The Cats will go on the road for the first time all season for their next match, which will be against Illinois on Sunday, September 1, at Demirjian Park, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET.
