UK baseball (23-16) was able to get back in the thick of the SEC East race with a sweep over Tennessee last weekend, but a much bigger challenge awaits the Cats this weekend.
No. 13 UK softball relied on the pitching of junior right-hander Kelsey Nunley in the doubleheader on Saturday.
It was the first SEC-series sweep for the Cats since they beat Alabama in May 2012.
UK starter Kelsey Nunley gave up five of her six total runs in the first inning against South Carolina as the Cats lost 6-4 to the Gamecocks in the series opener on Friday.
With the chance to win the series over Tennessee, UK’s pitching staff delivered a gem for the second straight night.
