Former UK basketball player Terrence Jones apologized Thursday following his arrest on charges of harassment in his hometown of Portland, Ore.

“I am extremely sorry and embarrassed for my actions,” Jones said in a written statement. “Sorry to all my family, friends, fans and everyone else who I’ve hurt.”

Jones posted the statement on his Facebook account, saying he is “taking steps to become a better person and a better role model.”

Jones was arrested by Portland police Wednesday shortly after 2 a.m.

Police said Jones was arrested after he shouted at a homeless man before stomping on the man’s leg.

The ex-Cat and current Houston Rocket is due to appear in court court at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
