Former Ky. Secretary of State will talk about freedoms of speech, press

Former Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson will give the State of the First Amendment Address at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the auditorium of W.T. Young Library.

The annual event is part of the First Amendment Celebration sponsored by the Scripps Howard First Amendment Center and UK’s School of Journalism and Telecommunications.

Grayson, now the director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard University, will address the relationship of the freedoms of speech and press, as well as the right to vote.

The James Madison Award for Service to the First Amendment will also be presented at the event.

The event is free and open to UK students as well as the general public.
