The search for authentic cuisine extends beyond fast food

Although I found the idea of it nothing short of laughable, I was not shocked to discover P.F. Chang’s voted “Best Oriental Cuisine” in Monday’s edition of the Kernel. I haven’t the slightest idea how this was decided, but P.F. Chang’s is about as authentic as any run of the mill Chinese buffet, which is to say, not authentic in the slightest.

Needless to say, I would expect nothing less from a nation that glorifies fast food, but I do feel it is my duty to at least provide an alternative; Panda Cuisine off of Nicholasville Road offers the most authentic experience in Chinese dining one is likely to find, and I would strongly suggest that anyone reading this give it a shot.

Aside from the glowing reviews I received from native Chinese before ever going there, one needs only to observe the crowd for proof that Panda Cuisine is worth the trip. On a given night, the crowd is guaranteed to consist of native Chinese as a majority, and any food buff can tell you that is the best review a restaurant can receive. So if you are feeling adventurous, give it a shot. I can assure you it will be worth it.
