I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but there is a sickness going around called the Swine flu. Although it is not to be taken lightly, the panic and utter hysteria it has caused seems to be the biggest news since John Calipari. As the Kentucky Clinic fills up with hypochondriac kids, medical students and doctors are out and about in full force. As I walk by the white coats and the student’s donned in scrubs I have to wonder, where are all the super sexy doctors we see on television? I must admit that I have never seen a Clooney-esque doctor walking through the halls of the Kentucky Clinic, and trust me, I have been looking.

The media has a way of bringing the most attractive individuals to the small and big screen and leaving us with a feeling that those people are out there, but I can’t seem to find them. So in light of the ever prevalent Swine flu, let’s take a look at some of the small screen stars who are sexy in scrubs. These folks are just what the doctor ordered….

1. George Clooney — Undoubtedly the hottest doc in television history. George was chosen to play Dr. Doug Ross on NBC’s hit show ER in 1994. The role helped to launch the Academy Award winners thriving career and the infamous bachelor created quite a stir with women of all ages. George played Dr. Ross on “ER” until 2000 when he left to pursue other projects. It seemed to be a good decision as the actor starred in some truly mega movies such as “One Fine Day,” “The Perfect Storm,” the “Oceans” series and “Michael Clayton.” George returned to the set of “ER” as the long lost Dr. Ross in 2009 during the final season. His short stint left “ER” and Clooney fans wanting more.  As the two time recipient of the coveted PEOPLES “Sexiest Man” award, he certainly earns a spot on this list.

2. Patrick Dempsey — Also known as “McDreamy.” Patrick stars as Dr. Derek Shepherd on ABC’s hit medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy.” With his Jesse Katsopolis locks, and his endearing grin, this former “Can’t Buy Me Love” star is all grown up indeed.  Not only is Patrick an incredible actor, but he also moonlights as a race car driver (Could he be any more perfect?). Bad news ladies, Patrick is off the market and is happily married with three children. The good news is that we can still ogle over the handsome doc when “Grey’s Anatomy” returns for its 6th season this fall.

3. Katherine Heigl — Wake up guys. This one’s for you. The blonde bombshell stars as Dr. Izzie Stevens in ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” and has stolen the hearts of men everywhere.  Katherine has received critical acclaim for her performance on “Grey’s” and was even awarded an Emmy for her role. Not only is she taking on television, but she has also made quite an impression on the movie industry, starring in some small blockbusters including, “Knocked-Up,” “27 Dresses,” and most recently, “The Ugly Truth.” What’s next for the starlet? Motherhood. Katherine and her husband just announced they will be adopting a little girl from Korea.

4. Zach Braff — Girls and guys can appreciate the intelligent humor of the a-dorkable Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian on “Scrubs.” Mr. Braff started his residency with the “Scrubs” crew in 2001 and the show is now in its 9th season on ABC. Zach charms audience as the bewildered intern at Sacred Heart Hospital, with his witty one-liners and quirky behavior. Zach has also landed some movie roles in “The Last Kiss” and “Garden State.” Not only is Zach one of the hottest young stars of Hollywood, he also happens to be a serial dater. He has been linked to his fair share of high profile women, including Drew Barrymore and Mandy Moore. For now the doc is unhitched and for the sake of women everywhere, we hope he will remain a bachelor.

5. Olivia Wilde — One more for all the guys and this one will surely make you go wild! The Maxim hottie plays Dr. Remy Hadley, also known as “Thirteen” on FOX’s “House.” The bright-eyed beauty has taken Hollywood by storm, and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight for her up and coming career. You may recognize the starlet as Ryan… and Marissa’s lover from the hit teen series “The O.C.” but she has certainly come a long way since her beach days. Look for the gorgeous gal in the highly anticipated “Tron Legacy” this fall.

Well that’s wraps up our list of the small screens hottest doctors. So as the swine flu hits our campus, make sure you take the necessary precautions to avoid getting sick. Freshman especially, the dorms are a breeding ground for all things flu, so be extra careful.  For now, we can just wonder what is would be like to see some of these hot television docs walk into the waiting room.
