Bluegrass Printmakers’ Cooperative gives a hands-on approach to Valentine’s Day
February 11, 2016
Students looking for something fun and different to start Valentine’s weekend can visit the Bluegrass Printmakers’ Cooperative on Friday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. for Netflix and Prints.
Netflix and Prints is a family-friendly fundraiser where attendees can make their own prints and cards for Valentine’s Day, while supporting a community outreach at the same time.
Refreshments will be provided, as well as all supplies needed to create a print or card, and movies and shows on Netflix will be played for entertainment. No art experience is necessary, so anyone is welcome to come.
“We provide entertainment, gift making opportunities, food, and Netflix. You bring your creativity and passion,” coordinator for the event Stephen Wiggins said.
The event is strictly donation based, and there is a suggested $10 donation to participate, though more or less will be accepted. This donation helps cover “studio rent, supply costs, and supports our community outreach,” according to the event description on Eventbrite.
Those that donate will leave with a beautiful print, and most importantly; learn about printmaking as a fun form of expression. This fundraiser is designed to give the city of Lexington a reason to get excited about printmaking as a fun and unique hobby.
“It will definitely be something fun to do and it’s a cheap date night for college students,” Wiggins said.
Bluegrass Printmakers’ Cooperative is located at 161 N. Mill St.
