Derek Willis arrested for public intoxication

Kentucky basketball senior forward Derek Willis was arrested on Saturday in Boone County on charges of alcohol intoxication in a public place.

The arrest of Willis was first reported by Justin Rowland of CatsIllustrated.com

According to the Boone County Jail website, Willis was shortly released from jail on Saturday after a bail of $50 was paid. Willis’ arrest came 10 days before his 21st birthday.

The 6-foot-9, 220-pound senior saw significant minutes last season until suffering an ankle injury late in the year. Willis averaged 7.7 points and 4.0 rebounds in 32 games, including 11 starts. He also shot a team-best 44.2 percent from 3-point range.
