9 local dentists to volunteer with Dentistry from the Heart
August 3, 2016
Just as the fall semester begins, a few Lexington dentists will give free cleanings, fillings and extractions for a day.
The fourth annual Dentistry from the Heart in Lexington will be on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Justice Dental. Dentists will see patients for free on a first-come, first-serve basis.
“We have been very blessed by the community and this is just one way we try to give back and help those who can not afford dental care,”said Brandi Sparks, a registered dental hygienist for Justice Dental. She said some patients camp out the night before.
Dentistry from the Heart started 14 years ago in Florida. There are about 300 events nationally each year.
In the past, about 125 patients are seen which is a few thousands of dollars in free dental care, Sparks said. Patients must be 18 years old.
The dentists volunteering are:
- Dr. Laura Justice
- Dr. Tristan Thompson
- Dr. Jingjing Pratt
- Dr. Leslie Horn
- Dr. Mark King
- Dr. Elliot Neuman
- Dr. Justin Raybould
- Dr. Becca Green
