Former associate biology chair takes interim chair position
September 14, 2017
The current biology department chair is stepping down, as announced by the College of Arts and Sciences Dean Mark Kornbluh.
Ann Morris, formerly Associate Chair, is taking the interim position for former Chair Vincent Cassone. Kornbluh notified biology faculty through an email earlier this week.
Cassone is stepping down to focus on two major research projects. Kornbluh said Cassone’s “plate is more than full.”
Cassone is stepping down for this semester, according to the email.
Kornbluh said Morris “graciously agreed” to take over, and Dave Weisrock will serve as interim associate chair.
Morris said Cassone and Kornbluh agreed on this arrangement so Cassone can focus on his “growing research program.”
