Kentucky senior Emma Grome was named SEC player of the week and SEC setter of the week for week 10.
It was the sixth SEC player of the week honor awarded to Grome in her career and her first of the season. It also marked the 19th time Grome has been selected as SEC setter of the week, the third time of the season.
Grome averaged 12.33 assists per set in both three-set victories over South Carolina and Georgia. The outstanding play from Grome helped the Wildcats cap off their fifth straight win, climbing back atop the SEC standings.
Against South Carolina on Nov. 1, Grome recorded a match-high 34 assists. She also recorded 10 digs, marking her 25th career double-double. Grome was also strong behind the service line as well, recording a season-high of three service aces.
On Nov. 3, the Wildcats swept Georgia to complete their five match road trip. Grome assisted on 40 of the Wildcats 45 total kills. It was Grome’s 10th match with 40+ assists this season. Grome also assisted on three blocks, tying her season high in three-set matches.
Grome has been outstanding for Kentucky for her entire career. She has the most matches with 40+ assists in program history and is second in career assists, with the 2024 season being no exception.
The Wildcat offense has excelled this season thanks in part to Grome’s playmaking ability. Grome is first in the SEC — 12th in the nation — in assists per set with 10.79. She also has the second most digs on the team this season.
Simply put, Grome’s ability to set teammates up for attacking opportunities and prevent opposing attacks has been invaluable for Kentucky this season.
Grome and the Wildcats look to continue their five game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. Kentucky returns to Lexington to face Texas A&M, kicking off a five game home stand. This match airs live on the SEC Network +.
