Valentine’s Day date ideas that won’t break the bank

Kennedy Sabharwal

Couples can have fun and enjoy time out on the town without having to break the bank.

Since Valentine’s Day is Wednesday and it may be of interest to go on a romantic date with your significant other without having to spend a grand amount of money, here are a few ideas that couples could enjoy:

Chocolate Holler

This is a coffee and chocolate bar located in downtown Lexington. Coffee shop A Cup of Common Wealth opened this location to serve drinking chocolates, chocolate espresso drinks, coffee, chocolate treats and other baked goods.

On Valentine’s Day, Chocolate Holler is offering reservation-only plated desserts from 8 to 10 p.m. The plated dessert tray includes chocolate flights, a specialty hot chocolate of choice and an array of chocolate desserts. Reservations are $25 per couple. There are limited spots open and sign-ups are in-shop only.

Soundbar Karaoke

Soundbar is a dance and night club located off Euclid Avenue in Lexington.

On Valentine’s Day, Soundbar is offering Heartbreak Karaoke. DJ JayJax will be the host for the evening. Whether you’re in the mood for love songs, break-up songs or anything in between, this is a great place to head on Wednesday night. Karaoke starts at 10 p.m. and goes until 2:30 a.m. with only a $5 mason jar fee. Age restrictions 21 and older.

Elle Fitness

Elle Fitness is a fitness studio offering indoor cycling, barre and even more workout classes and is located on National Avenue. Packages offered here include single classes, 12-month memberships, student memberships and even private lessons.

Bring your significant other to Elle Fitness on Valentine’s Day at 7 p.m. to learn some barre moves. This event is known as Burn For Bourbon Date Night Event, and it has been happening every year for seven years. The company’s goal is for men to burn at the barre for a chance to win free bourbon. The class is free for all men and there will be wine along with light appetizers served following the class.

The Mad Potter

This is Lexington’s original paint-your-own-pottery and glass fusion studio. Located on Tates Creek Road, The Mad Potter has been a popular shop since 1998. With hundreds of ready-to-paint pieces to choose from, anyone is sure to find inspiration.

On the night of Valentine’s Day from 6 to 9 p.m., The Mad Potter is having an annual event. This night is filled with romantic music, semi-private tables, chocolates, coffee, tea and decorations. Reservations are necessary, cost $16 per couple or $8 per person and can be made by calling 859-269-4591.
