Crumzz opens for business on north campus
February 22, 2018
As multiple businesses close on north campus, one has decided to open its doors.
Crumzz Bar and Grill, at the corner of Avenue of Champions and South Limestone, officially opened its doors on Feb. 19. General manager Chris Geisler explained what Crumzz has to offer for UK students.
“Our focus is on cheese steaks and other deli styles sandwiches as well,” Geisler said. “We have different types of potato skins. That’s really our concept, which is cheese steak and potatoes. That’s what we’re using to set us apart from others on campus.”
Crumzz offers multiple different sub sandwiches and loaded potato dishes. Featured sandwiches include The Super American, Chicken Bacon Ranch, and The Hot Brown. The American Philly sandwich is particularly delicious. Crumzz also offers different appetizers including wings, fried pickles and jalapeno poppers.
Crumzz not only caters to people under 21 but those above as well. The restaurant doubles as a bar, so the business checks ID after 10 p.m. when alcohol is served.
“We have a good mix of domestic beers and different local beers, as well as other craft beers from around the countries,” Geisler said. “We’ll have a number of drink specials on different nights of the week.”
“This is your bar and pub affair.”
Despite there being a bar, students not of legal drinking age should still stop by. The waiters make sure all of their customers are cared for. Geisler mentioned that he wants customers to receive their food in less than 10 minutes because he does not want them to wait long. Along with the outdoor patio, Crumzz is an excellent restaurant for students to go get something to eat and hang out.
Douae Mohsine, a hostess at Crumzz and a UK student, suggested students try the restaurant for its sandwiches and welcoming atmosphere.
“You can take to go and come eat for lunch,” Mohsine said.
With March Madness right around the corner, this is a prime location for students to go watch the big game. With Tin Roof and Pazzo’s being two popular locations to watch March Madness, Geisler wants to draw some of those customers to Crumzz. Geisler said that he hopes Crumzz can “capture the crowds” of football and basketball watchers with “15 TVs and a pretty good viewing area.”
As far as Tapingo, a quick and easy online food ordering app for students, Geisler said that the app is currently being looked at as another way to order. In the meantime, Crumzz does not offer those services. The restaurant will offer online orders and delivery in the future, but those details have yet to be released. However, Geisler did mention that Crumzz is setting up the system for Plus Accounts.
Customers can follow Crumzz Bar and Grill on Facebook and Instagram.
Crumzz is currently open from 11 a.m to midnight Sunday through Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
