University Health Service and UK Sexperts have partnered together for a week to promote safe sex, consent and STI testing.

Safer Sex Week is full of unique events that offer important information to educate UK students about the different sexual health resources on campus, while adding a fun game of Jenga and giveaways like condoms, dental dams, lube and candy.

“On Monday and Friday, the theme is ‘Condom Sense’ and the focus is STIs, how to prevent them, and STI testing,” said Kara Barlow from UK Sexpert.

The Monday event took place in Whitehall at 11 a.m. The next “Condom Sense” will take place on Friday, Feb. 9, in the Jacob Science Atrium at 11 a.m.

The Tuesday and Thursday theme is “Bedside(r) Manners,” which focuses on the different types of birth control methods and how to use them properly.

Along with these informative events, the Wednesday event had free HIV testing, courtesy of Lexington-Fayette Health Department.

“The HIV testing is a free event that we do since this service isn’t covered through the student health fee,” Barlow said.
