Sunday’s matchup, which was the finale of the three-game series and a top 10 SEC softball matchup, was one sided all throughout with LSU pulling out the win 8-2 over Kentucky.
The Wildcats, who currently sit with a 17-10 record and .500 in conference play, have been relatively good during the season so far. LSU, which has only one loss this season, racked up a total of 18 runs during the weekend against Kentucky.
A key part of LSU’s wins was because of junior Sydney Berzon’s performance. Berzon went the full seven innings while giving up nine hits and two runs.
On the offensive side, LSU bats were red hot. Junior Maci Bergeron went 2-4 with five RBI along with her redshirt freshman teammate Denieca Coffey went 1-2 contributing to three runs.
Kentucky, on the other hand, had a hard time getting runner’s home. In total, the Wildcats have left nine runners on base. Hallie Mitchell, Allie Blum and Peyton Plotts were the batters that left the most baserunners stranded.
The Wildcats’ next game is versus Dayton back at home in Lexington at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
