Sophomore center Clara Strack broke the Kentucky women’s basketball single-season block record with 67 blocks. She achieved this with her second block in the Wildcats’ matchup with Tennessee on Feb. 23, 2025.
The record was previously 66 blocks, set by Victoria Dunlap in her 2009-10 campaign. Dunlap was named the consensus SEC Player of the Year and selected as an All-American for this effort — both honors were the program’s first.
Strack set another Kentucky block record earlier this season as her eight blocks against Ole Miss on Feb. 10 set the single-game block record. This record was previously seven set by DeNesha Stallworth in 2013.

With the help of Strack, the Wildcats have also broken the team single-season block record. After two blocks in the game against Tennessee, the Wildcats reached 182 blocks on the season to surpass the 181 recorded by the 2012-13 team.
The Wildcats rank second in the nation in blocks per game, averaging seven per night as a team.
Strack transferred to Kentucky after spending her freshman season at Virginia Tech. She spent most of the season backing up All-American center Elizabeth Kitley.
She was one of four players who followed Head Coach Kenny Brooks from Virginia Tech when he was hired at Kentucky.
This season, Strack is averaging 14.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.5 blocks per game. She has recorded double-digit points in 22-of-27 games this season, with 14 double-doubles and eight 20+ point performances.
Her 2.5 blocks per game ranks seventh in the nation and first in the conference. Her 9.3 rebounds per game also ranks fourth in the SEC.
Strack is an strong defender, but her playmaking ability sets her apart from other centers. She is one of just six players this season averaging 14+ points and 2.5+ blocks per game and has more assists than all five other players on that list. She is also the only underclassman with those stats.
Strack’s impressive sophomore campaign has earned her a spot as one of 10 finalists for the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year award. She is one of two sophomores on the list — the other eight are upperclassmen.
She is the only NCAA Divsion-I women’s basketball player to record 25 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists, eight blocks, five steals and three 3-point field goals made in at least one game this season.
Strack has been vitally important to the Wildcats this season and has started every game. Her impressive sophomore season shows the potential she possesses and proves that she will be even more of a cornerstone for the Wildcats in the future.
