Former Kentucky running back Ray Davis’ rookie season with the Buffalo Bills came to a close on Sunday with a 32-29 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.
Despite only rushing twice for four yards in that game, his role made a difference in the team’s offense this season, and he proved that he has the potential to be a star in the league.
Davis, who was drafted in the fourth round (128th overall) in the 2024 NFL draft, primarily served in a backup role behind two-time Pro Bowler and 2022 second-round pick James Cook.
On the ground, he totaled 113 carries for 442 yards and three touchdowns during his rookie season. He also caught 17 passes for 189 yards and three touchdowns, all in the regular season.
In the Bills’ three postseason games, he rushed seven times for 36 yards (5.1 yards per carry) and a touchdown. Additionally, he returned two kickoffs for 53 yards.
The touchdown, a 1-yard run, came in the first quarter of the Divisional Round against the Baltimore Ravens and was the Bills’ first score in their 27-25 victory.
He rushed twice for four yards in the loss on Sunday in a game that saw Cook and quarterback Josh Allen dominate on offense for Buffalo.
Davis will look to have a bigger role in 2025 for the Bills, who have consistently been one of the top teams in the league.
