Malachi Moreno, a 6-foot-11 center from Great Crossing High School in Georgetown, Kentucky, was selected to the 2025 McDonald’s All-American Game on Monday.
The prestigious nod features the best high school or prep basketball players from the United States and Canada. Moreno was one of only 24 selected in the showcase in Brooklyn, New York.
Currently, the center ranks No. 2 in the nation for the class of 2025 according to 247Sports.
Since its conception in 1977, Moreno became the 79th future Wildcat to be named to the event, making him the sixth Kentuckian to commit to the Wildcats as a “Burger Boy.”
Each of those six Bluegrass-raised prospects went on to have NBA careers.
Most recently, London native Reed Sheppard shared the honor two years ago. The most notable Kentuckian featured was Rajon Rondo, from the class of 2004, as the Louisville product won a pair of championships in his 17-year career.
Last year, Boogie Fland, Jayden Quaintance and Karter Knox went as Kentucky commits, however, Fland and Knox decommitted and flipped to Arkansas following John Calipari’s departure to Fayetteville in April and Quaintance flipped to Arizona State.
The Wildcats are one of 14 schools with an incoming freshman featured in the McDonald’s game, one of two schools from the SEC. Moreno is a member of the fifth-best recruiting class in the country alongside Jasper Johnson and Acaden Lewis according to 247Sports and On3.
Previously, the heralded big man has performed at events such as the Adidas Eurocamp, the NBPA Top 100 Camp and the Under Armour Next Elite 24 Showcase.
The 2025 McDonald’s Boys All-American game is scheduled to tip-off at 9 p.m. ET on April 1 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The boy’s game will air live on ESPN.
