As kickoff nears and anticipation builds for Kentucky football’s season, something else for UK fans to be excited for has also arrived.
This, however, has nothing to do with football. It has to do with the concession stands.
The announcement in question is that the world famous Rupp Arena soft serve ice cream will be making its way to Kroger Field for the upcoming football season.
While Taylor Belle’s has had a presence at Kroger Field with trucks stationed around the stadium, there was an item always noticeably missing, but that is no longer the case.
While the trucks will remain around the concourse, Taylor Belle’s will also have a location outside of section 19 starting with the season opener when the Wildcats take on Southern Miss.
Over the years, the ice cream has become a staple of the Kentucky basketball Rupp Arena experience as fans can see it all around the arena while the action unfolds.
Even for fans not in the arena, the famous ice cream has remained present in their lives when ESPN’s Jay Bilas was calling a Cats game. Bilas would also make sure to not only eat, but mention how great the ice cream was, with it often being delivered to him by UK cheerleaders.
Now, when the Cats come out of the tunnel and “Grove Street Party” by Waka Flocka Flame (featuring Kebo Gotti) belts out through the speakers, there’s a good chance the soft serve will be right in the middle of it.
Fans will have the chance to get the ice cream and watch Kentucky football make its 2024 season debut against Southern Miss on Saturday, August 31. The game is set to begin at 7:45 p.m. ET and will air live on SEC Network.
