Meeks still undecided on NBA draft plans

UK guard Jodie Meeks has not decided whether he will keep his name in the NBA draft permanently.

“I’m just in the process of doing what I need to do to get the experience,” Meeks said. “I’m not really sure what I’m going to do, I’m just working out and trying to stay in shape.”

When asked what he thought of new UK head coach John Calipari’s dribble-drive offense and what he could learn by coming back to play for Calipari, Meeks was positive.

“If we [Meeks and Patrick Patterson] both come back I think we’ll have a great team,” Meeks said.

Meeks said that his decision and Patterson’s were independent of each other ,and he would not hesitate to recommend Patterson remain in the draft if he were going to be a top 20 pick.

“I think we’re both in the process of where we want to do what’s best for us, but at the same time make a smart decision,” Meeks said.

Meeks said he had not decided which NBA teams he would work out for yet, but hoped to make that decision in the next couple of weeks.

Meeks spoke to reporters after throwing out the first pitch at the UK baseball team’s game against Louisville Tuesday.
