Smith, Hayes decide to run for re-election
March 4, 2010
Some students think change might not be the best path for Student Government as far as next year’s administration is concerned.
SG President Ryan Smith and Vice-President Kelsey Hayes formally announced their decision to run for re-election Wednesday night in the Student Center Small Ballroom to a crowd of 35 students and SG senators.
“Kelsey and I believe that the relationships we have built and the experience that we have gives us a unique opportunity,” Smith said. “It gives us the opportunity to continue work on large scale projects and see that initiatives Student Government has created this year continue.”
Smith said if elected, he and Hayes plan to work with faculty to establish a fall break and split finals week, re-evaluate the speaking process at board meetings, create better transportation for students and work with test preparation companies to offer free and discounted classes for entrance exams.
Hayes said their website, (www.smithhayes2010.com) will be up and running by Monday with a full list of platform positions and a blog of the latest information about the campaign.
