A lot has been made of UK player’s commitments recently. Every one of them had something they pledged to get better at.

For Jon Hood?

Talking trash on the court, according to his coach.

“His thing was I’m going to talk crap on the court,” head coach John Calipari said. “I’m going to go out and talk. And the first half (against Tennessee) he did. Went out and talked, clapped. It was great to see. Second half he didn’t talk, and what did the other guy do? Made a three.”

Hood played two minutes in the first half and missed his only shot attempt. He played one minute in the second half and didn’t take a shot.

The commitment came after Calipari brought out a boxing bag for his team and saw Hood packing a punch.

“Jon Hood was out on the heavy bag and punched the heck out of it,” Calipari said. “He and Josh (Harrellson) were smashing that thing. I stopped and said Jon, if you have that, why don’t you talk junk on the court? If they say something back, knock them out.”
