President search discusses applicants

The problem won’t lie in finding a person to do the job, but rather in choosing just one.

The UK Presidential Search Committee met Wednesday to sift through some 459 contacts and 110 nominees for the position of president, a UK news release said.

The committee met for more than three hours in closed session to discuss the candidate pool with Jan Greenwood of Greenwood/Asher, the executive search firm hired to help with the search.

Greenwood said in the release that contacts included university presidents, provosts and deans, as well as corporate and government leaders.

She said current President Lee Todd’s mission to become a Top 20 research university by 2020 has generated excitement among candidates for the position of 12th president.

Greenwood also said the search is “running on schedule.”

UK spokesman Jay Blanton said no follow-up dates for meetings or interviews with candidates were discussed Wednesday.

Board of trustees chair Britt Brockman said the board hopes to extend an offer to a finalist in early May.
