UK 2011 recruits selected for All-American game

Marquis Teague, Anthony Davis, Michael Gilchrist and Kyle Wiljter, all committed to UK for 2011, were selected for the McDonald’s All-American game.

“I’m happy for the kids,” UK head coach John Calipari said. “It’s a great honor. All four of them, great kids.”

Teague, Davis and Wiltjer will play for the West, and Gilchrist will play for the East.

The game will be played March 30 in Chicago, and will feature 24 top high school players (see full list to the right).

This is the first time four UK recruits were selected. UK has had three players selected four times: 2010 (Brandon Knight, Terrence Jones and Doron Lamb), 2004 (Joe Crawford, Randolph Morris and Rajon Rondo), 1984 (Ed Davender, Cedric Jenkins, Richard Madison) and 1979 (Sam Bowie, Derrick Hord, Dirk Minniefield).

Including the 2011 players, UK has had 33 players selected since the game’s inception in 1977.

Louisville had two players selected. The SEC had seven players represented. Georgia, LSU and Florida each had one.
