Join the Kernel team

This is a big week at the Kernel. Not only has the publication had the opportunity to cover the men’s basketball team Elite Eight victory and the chaos that ensued across campus and surrounding areas; the staff is looking to expand its own team.

All this week, UK students can come to the Kernel newsroom (room 026 in the Grehan Journalism Building) and sign up to interview to be an editor next year. Just indicate the position(s) you are interested in and what day and time you are available to interview.

The Kernel is hiring at all desks, so whether your forte is sports, news, features, design or even opinions, take advantage of this opportunity to get access, get connected and get ahead.

Even if you’ve never written for the Kernel, but are an avid reader who has wondered what it’s like to be on the other side of the news, come check out the Kernel. All majors are welcome.

Not to be biased or anything, but opinions is probably my favorite section of the newspaper. While all the other sections put objectivity as a top priority, opinions has the liberty to show that personal flair.

Where else are you going to have the chance to see the community’s reaction from major news stories? Where else are you going to have the chance to challenge administrative actions and incite conversation about issues that other news desks to cover?

This could be the biggest week of your life. Apply to the Kernel and become part of a winning team.
