Crum to coach in both Pros vs. Dominican games

One all-star exhibition game wasn’t enough for the Pros vs. Dominican Republic matchup, so another has been created to be played in Louisville.

Tickets go on pre-sale Thursday at 10 a.m., with the same ticket prices ($15 for upper level, $35 for lower level) as the game in Rupp Arena, according to John Calipari’s tweets. General public tickets are scheduled to go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. The link to buy tickets through Ticketmaster is here.

Some of the revenue from the two games is going toward insurance paid to the participating professional players.

The game will be played in the KFC Yum! Center at 7:30 p.m. Some players participating in the Rupp Arena game are not available, and have been replaced by other former UK players, including Josh Harrellson and Brandon Knight.

Denny Crum will be assisting the Pro team in both games, according to Calipari.

An Associated Press report from today quotes Rick Pitino’s reaction to the game:

“That’s a public facility, it’s our homecourt during the season, but obviously anybody can go in there,” Pitino said. “Lady Gaga can go in there, or the Dominican team can go in there.

“It’s no different than Villanova or West Virginia, or anybody else playing there. It’s a free country and the KFC, last time I checked, was part of this country.”

When an obviously irritated Pitino was asked why isn’t the exhibition game being played at Freedom Hall, he said: “Why don’t you ask them that?”

A Yum! Center spokesperson said the details of the game are still being finalized, but a contract should be complete by the end of the week.
