College Basketball on TV Saturday – Cats host Vandy
February 25, 2012
With no football, many college basketball teams are playing on Sunday, as the Cats do next week against Florida. Louisville, Florida State and seemingly the entire Big Ten all play on Sunday, which dilutes the amount of quality games for Saturday. Here are some of the bigger games of the day.
Noon – Vanderbilt at N. 1 Kentucky – CBS
The day starts off strong with a game featuring the Cats. Vandy is a tough match-up for the Cats, especially if Jenkins is hitting from the perimeter.
2 p.m. – Villanova at #8 Georgetown – CBS (nationally) CW (locally)
The Hoyas are 20-5 and are in shape to earn a 2 or 3 seed in the NCAA tournament. They should be able to handle the 11-16 Wildcats easily at home.
4 p.m. No. 7 North Carolina at No. 25 Virginia – ESPN
The resurgent Cavaliers have a chance to prove their tournament worthiness as the Tar Heels come to town.
9 p.m. – #2 Syracuse at UConn – ESPN
This is an absolute crucial game for the UConn Huskies (17-10, 7-8 Big East). UConn started the season ranked in the Top 5, but are now playing themselves onto the NCAA Tournament bubble. If they are to hand Syracuse their second loss of the season, it will go a long way toward earning them a spot in the big dance.
If any of these match-ups get out of hand and you want to find another game to watch, a great composite college basketball television schedule put together by Pete Dougherty of the Albany Times Union is here: CBB Composite TV Schedule
