Officials were on the scene of a train accident near Virginia Avenue, where a man was struck and killed by a train Thursday.

Norfolk Southern Railway officials notified police that a man passed out on the tracks and was hit around 6:30 p.m., said Lexington police Lt. Scott Blakely. He did not know if the man was intoxicated.

The man was not a UK student, Blakely said.

The Fayette County coroner’s office had not released the man’s name as of 11 p.m. Thursday.
