UK baseball swept by MSU

By David Schuh

Entering the final day of the SEC season Saturday, the UK baseball team needed to beat Mississippi St. and get some help from LSU and Florida.

LSU won and Florida lost. The Cats got the outside help they sought. However, they couldn’t take care of their own fate.

Leading 2-0 after three, the Bulldogs got three in the fourth and five in the fifth to run away with the game and the series, 11-2. UK was plagued by three errors which fueled the MSU rallies.

With the loss, UK finished a game behind conference champion, LSU. The Cats received the #4 seed in next week’s SEC tournament.

The Cats opening game of the postseason is Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. against Ole Miss. UK took two of three from the Rebels in Lexington in April.
