UK Softball’s Bell and Cervantes sign with Chicago Bandits

Two departing seniors for UK Softball have a chance to continue their athletic career, securing contracts with the Chicago Bandits of the National Pro Fastpitch League.
The Bandits are one of the four teams in the fledgling league, which is working to add teams and gain sponsorships and television coverage, according to its website.
Bell and Cervantes competed in an open tryout that had 44 participants. The field was cut down to nine who competed in a exhibition game, and the UK duo emerged as two of the four that were offered contracts.
“It’s really exciting, kind of nerve-wracking but when they told us congratulations it was an awesome feeling,” Cervantes said in a UK Athletics release.

“There were a lot of good players out there and I’m glad I was blessed enough to join the Bandits,” Bell said.
