Despite goals from top returners Matt Lodge and Tyler Riggs, UK lost in an explosive 4-3 game in Dayton, Ohio Sunday evening.

Following a scoreless first half in which the Cats controlled most of the possession, the scoreboard exploded with all seven of the games goals coming after the first 45 minutes of play.

The Cats controlled the shooting in holding a 21-15 advantage in shots and a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Dayton got on the board first following a costly mistake from freshman goalkeeper Callum Irving leaving the goal wide open for Dayton senior Daniel Berko, who scored three goals for the Flyers.

UK evened the score shortly after with junior Tyler Riggs scoring his 17th career goal. That goal moved him into ninth place all-time.

Senior Matt Lodge also scored, which gave him 18 for his career and good enough for eighth all-time.

After tying the game, the Cats conceded three straight goals to the Flyers, who were able to hold off a late run from the Cats, including a penalty kick goal by senior mid-fielder Charley Pettys.

Head coach Johan Cedergren’s club will be back in action on Friday and Sunday as they travel to the 2012 Gamecock Classic to take on Northwestern and St. Joseph’s.
