Letter to the Editor: Kudos to UK soccer

This past Friday, Sept. 28, my family and I traveled to Lexington from Northern Kentucky to take in the Texas A&M vs. Kentucky women’s soccer match.

As Aggies living 1,000 miles away from our school, we are very excited that A&M is now part of the SEC. Everything we experienced Friday evening just increased that excitement.

First, the facilities at UK are first-rate. The field was in immaculate condition, and the seating had great views. Second, everyone that we ran across was very friendly. While we did get a few double-takes for all our maroon gear, the atmosphere was congenial. It was a very family-friendly environment, and I wouldn’t hesitate in the least to bring the family for another match.

Finally, kudos to the team. They fought hard, played well and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout the match. The players even took time to talk with my kids as they walked the fence, even though we were wearing enemy colors.

Texas A&M is known as the friendliest campus in the world. From what I saw Friday night, Lexington and UK rank right up there as well.

We look forward to many trips back to watch our Aggies take on the Wildcats.

Gig ’em!!
