UK’s second half comeback fell short, and the Cats lost to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 64-50.

The Cats’ trip to South Bend went south quickly, as the Irish went on a 23-6 run in the first half on the way to an 11 point halftime lead. Notre Dame shot 47 percent from the field, 53.3 percent from behind the arc.

The Cats shot 40.4 percent from the field, only 28.6 percent from three-point range.

Julius Mays led UK in scoring with 16 points on 4-7 shooting from outside. Nerlens Noel was also in double figures, finishing with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Archie Goodwin, who averages over 19 points per game this season, finished with 3 points on 1-of-7 shooting.

The loss to Notre Dame is only the second UK loss by more than 10 points under John Calipari. UK lost to UConn by 17 on Nov. 24, 2010 in the Maui Invitational.
