UK men’s basketball will be gunning for its third straight win Saturday when it welcomes Lipscomb (4-4) to Rupp Arena.

The Cats (6-3) face Scott Sanderson’s Bisons at the end of a second week of UK head coach John Calipari’s “Coach Cal” conditioning workouts.

Freshman guard Archie Goodwin, who leads the Cats in both scoring and assists, feels the extra training is paying off.

“I think that we’re defintely getting a lot better,” he said. “I feel a lot of confidence in us right now.”

Lipscomb’s main scoring threat will come from twins Malcolm Smith and Martin Smith, who lead the Bisons with averages of 13 and 12 points-per-game, respectively.

Saturday’s game will be the first time Calipari has faced the Bisons, and only the second all-time meeting between Lipscomb and UK.

Monday, Nov. 14, 2005 was the last and only time the two schools met, when Rajon Rondo’s 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists led the Cats to a 67-49 home victory.

Tipoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. EST, with the game being televised by Fox Sports South.
