Marrow appointed tight ends coach

Mark Stoops has added another face to his ever growing coaching staff, with the appointment of ex-NFL star Vince Marrow as tight ends coach.

Marrow joins UK from Nebraska where he spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach, also taking part in recruiting while Cornhuskers head coach Barney Cotton recovered from surgery last spring.

“I’m very excited that Coach Marrow has joined our staff,” Stoops said. “His diverse experiences as a coach and NFL player will be invaluable to our players and our program. He also is a great recruiter, especially with his outstanding connections in Ohio.”

Marrow’s connections in Ohio run as deep as those of head coach Mark Stoops, with the pair growing up together in Youngstown, Ohio.

“I’ve known Mark Stoops for a lot of years and this is a great opportunity to come here and work with him,” Marrow said. “I’m excited to be here and looking forward to the new era of Kentucky football.”

After a playing career that included stints with Buffalo, Carolina and Kansas City in the NFL, Marrow embarked on a coaching career that started in NFL Europe as a tight ends coach, first with Berlin, then Rhein.

Since returning to North America as a tight ends coach at Toledo University in 2008, Marrow has also spent time as head coach at Springfield High School in Holland, Ohio, and as a tight ends coach for the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League.
