UK women’s tennis (6-2) earned a 5-2 victory over Miami (Ohio) Tuesday at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Complex.

Sophomore Edmée Morin-Kougoucheff teamed up with junior CeCe Witten to earn an 8-2 win in their doubles match.

Another 8-2 doubles win for the Cats from sophomore Stephanie Fox and senior Jessica Stiles sealed the doubles point for UK, despite the duo of junior Caitlin McGraw and freshman Nadia Ravita being beaten in their doubles encounter.

Ravita and McGraw made up for that 8-7 loss with a pair of wins in the singles. Ravita wrapped up a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Miami’s Christiana Raymond, while McGraw knocked off Christine Guerrazzi 6-4, 6-2.

Stiles and Fox dusted themselves off after helping UK secure the doubles point by winning both of their singles matches.

Stiles beat Alix Thurman in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, with Fox wrapping up a 6-3, 6-1 win over the Redhawks’ Chloe Heerden.

Miami’s two points both came in the singles.

Their first was awarded when Morin-Lougoucheff retired when trailing 6-2, 2-1 to Nimisha Mohan.

The Redhawks’ second win was a tight 6-7 (4-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) victory for Ana Rajkovic over Witten.

The Cats return to the court on Saturday when they travel to Lawrence, Kan., to take on Kansas University.
