After dealing with a cancelled match-up on Tuesday night against WKU, the Cats went to Lipscomb for their first game since the weekend.

UK (24-8) defeated Lipscomb 8-1 behind the arm of freshman Kelsey Nunley who picked up her 15th win of the season.

Junior first baseman Lauren Cumbess hit a two-run blast to pace the Cats offensively who at times this season have been very weak at the plate. Junior outfielder Ginny Carroll led the Cats with a 3-4 performance at the plate.

Nunley threw five scoreless innings allowing just two hits and striking out five after coming on in relief for junior pitcher Ellen Weaver.

The Bison’s lone run came in the bottom of the second as they jumped out to the 1-0 lead thanks to a throwing error by the Cats’ infield. In total, the Bison could only muster three hits against the strong arms of Weaver and Nunley.

The Cats will next play host to SEC rival Tennessee this weekend for a three-game series.
