Pair of 2014 3-star recruits commit to Cats

Two three-star recruits from the state of Ohio committed to UK within hours of each other Saturday.

Three-star Westerville South (Ohio) High School tight end Darryl Long was the first committment to the Cats on Saturday.

Long, a 6-foot-4, 235 pound tight end, is rated as the 22nd-best tight end in the Class of 2014 by Rivals and the 27th-ranked tight end by 24/7 Sports.

Long also received offers from Louisville, Missouri, North Carolina, Minnesota and Purdue, among others.

Justin Rowland of Rivals reports that three-star defensive lineman Tymere Dubose also committed to UK.

Dubose is a 6-foot 6, 265 pound defensive lineman from Youngstown (Ohio) Christian School. Dubose is rated at three stars by Rivals and 24/7 Sports.

Other offers for Dubose include Michigan State, West Virginia, Maryland and Arkansas.

Dubose is the fifth committment of the Class of 2014 for head coach Mark Stoops, and all five commitments are from the state of Ohio.

Tight ends coach Vince Marrow, an Ohio native, will be Long’s position coach with the Cats.
